About Mzima Counselling

Healing Relational Trauma. Restoring Trust. Rebuilding Lives.

WHAT MZIMA MEANSA Path to Wholeness

Mzima is a Swahili word meaning “whole, well, complete, vitality.”

In therapy, many people arrive feeling anything but whole. Trust has been broken, relationships feel strained, or loss has changed the shape of life in ways that are difficult to navigate. Our role is to walk alongside individuals and couples as they process these experiences, restore emotional safety, and rediscover a path toward healing and renewed life.

At Mzima Counselling, the focus is not on quick fixes or surface-level coping. Therapy is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and paced to support real healing — emotionally, relationally, psychologically and spiritually -where needed.

Clients are met with compassion, structure, and respect.  This is a space where complexity is allowed — and healing is possible.

And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Meet the FounderChristine Oduor

BA, MACP, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Many of the struggles we experience in adulthood have roots in our relationships.

Experiences of betrayal, emotional injuries, developmental wounds, and significant loss can deeply impact how we see ourselves and how we connect with others. In therapy, I work with individuals and couples to understand these patterns, process painful experiences, and create healthier ways of relating to themselves and the people they care about.

Christine is  a Registered Provisional Psychologist based in Alberta Canada who works with adults and couples navigating relational trauma, betrayal, emotional disconnection, and grief. My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR-informed approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other relational therapies discussed above.

Grief and loss are often part of this work — not only grief following death, but also the grief of broken trust, lost futures, and life transitions that reshape identity and relationships. Christine offers a compassionate, steady presence for clients navigating these complex experiences and focuses on creating a safe space where difficult conversations can unfold honestly and where meaningful change can begin.

Our Mission

Mzima Counselling exists to help individuals and couples heal relational trauma, restore emotional safety, and rebuild connection after betrayal, loss, and life-altering experiences.

Our work is grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-focused care that honors each client’s story while supporting meaningful, sustainable change. When desired by the client, we integrate Christian faith and values as a source of meaning, hope, and restoration.

Our work is rooted in trauma-informed, attachment-focused care that honors each client’s story while supporting meaningful, sustainable change.

Our Vision

A world where individuals and couples are no longer trapped by broken trust and unresolved trauma, grief, — but are supported to heal, reconnect, and move forward with clarity and self-trust.

A world where individuals and couples are supported to heal with integrity — emotionally, relationally, and spiritually — and are empowered to move forward with clarity, self-trust, and renewed connection.

Mzima Counselling envisions therapy as a space where complexity is welcomed, healing is paced, and people are empowered to make informed choices about their relationships and lives.

Mzima Counselling envisions therapy as a space where psychological healing and faith can coexist thoughtfully, honoring both clinical wisdom and spiritual belief.

Our Core Values

Authenticity

Healing begins with truth. We value honest, grounded work that honors lived experience without minimizing pain or rushing outcomes. Clients are met as they are — without performance, judgment, or pressure to be “okay.”

Safety

Healing requires containment. Emotional and relational safety are foundational to all work at Mzima Counselling. Therapy is structured, trauma-informed, and paced to support nervous system regulation, trust, and stability before deeper repair or processing begins.

Empowerment

Healing restores choice. Our work supports clients in regaining agency, self-trust, and clarity. Rather than telling clients what to do, we help them understand patterns, access inner resources, and make informed decisions aligned with their values and goals.

If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure where to begin, support is available.
